Fickle is a very negative word - instead I love the way kids can rapidly change their minds, it means they are experiencing everything in real time, they make rapid decisions, they are not entrenched in patterns, they are always peeking over the other side to see what they are missing out on. They are flexible, adaptable, and they are like little sponges taking it all in - we should take a leaf out of their book and jump around from experience to experience a little more, keeps us young, keeps us curious!

my kids definitely act older, especially true when with their friends. They are quite different when alone with the family and I really do believe they need both worlds to develop whilst feeling supported. kids who loose their childhood props too early can suffer later on.

As Henry Ford famously said - if he'd have given his clients what they asked for they would have wound up with faster horses - the knack is knowing what the customer needs before they do - as you say however this needs then to be introduced to them in a manner that still has some degree of familiarity - human nature for you!
